RCP Social Determinants of Health - Policy Dialogue

Thu, 14/01/2010 (All day)
London

The Royal College of Physicians is hosting an invitation-only event to discuss the implications of the social determinants of health for the education and training of doctors.

The policy dialogue is the third in a series organised by the Royal College of Physicians which intends to define the roles that doctors can play in reducing the health inequalities which exist in the UK. The first dialogue centred on avoidable chronic disease and the second examined the effect of climate change on health inequalities. During the course of both these dialogues, the discussions frequently revolved around what can change in the undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD training of doctors in order that they are better able to tackle the social determinants of health. Consequently, this dialogue is designed to bring medical students and junior doctors together with medical school deans and experienced educators to discuss the opportunities and barriers for change in the curriculum.
