This free interactive study day is aimed at occupational therapists, students and educators interested in environmental sustainability in occupational therapy practice. It is the first such event to be organised by the Green Occupational Therapy Network.
In the coming decades not only will health services have to cope with changes in patterns of disease, population migration, greater inequities between rich and poor, and the potential for armed conflict over natural resources, but, at the same time, they will need to develop and adopt low carbon models of care. Occupational therapy will need to evolve to ensure its relevance in the context of this inevitable upheaval.
This study day has been designed to provide an introductory overview of the links between occupational therapy, sustainable development and carbon reduction targets within NHS services. Delegates will have an opportunity to discuss current thinking and research in this area and explore how developing sustainable living goals can be of benefit to clients, the profession of OT, the NHS and beyond.
Speakers include: Sonia Roschnik, Operational Director, NHS Sustainable Development Unit Gaynor Sadlo, Professor of Occupational Science, University of Brighton Frances Mortimer, Medical Director, Campaign for Greener Healthcare Tamara Rayment and Ben Whittaker, Project Leads, Green Occupational Therapy Network.
This study day is listed in the CPD Events on the College of Occupational Therapists website: www.cot.co.uk/homepage/cpd_events/?l=l&ListItemID=1681&ListGroupID=195
