EcoHealth 2010 Conference

The goal of the conference is to discuss critical and timely issues – both contributing to important international policy decisions and profiling important themes for science and policy.  The goal will be to bring together multiple perspectives on the critical Ecohealth challenges of our time.

There will be three themed days, with each day starting with a panel of keynote speakers brought from academia, policymakers, and civil society.  The three main themes for the conference are:

  • Urban Ecohealth, with papers and posters invited on the following themes
    • Sustainable Cities & Health
    • Environmental and Ecological Justice
    • Food in the cities
    • Urban ecosystems
    • Youth perspectives on urban ecohealth
  • Biodiversity and Ecohealth, with papers and posters invited on the following sub-themes
    • Conservation medicine and biodiversity
    • Biodiversity indicators for ecohealth
    • Environmental ethics and biodiversity
    • Species loss and ecohealth
    • Indigenous peoples and minority perspectives on biodiversity
  • Sustainability and future priorities for Ecohealth, with papers and posters invited on the following sub-themes
    • Climate Change and Climate Justice
    • Sustainable Consumption and Production
    • Ecological Ethics and Rights

Throughout the conference,  a cross-cutting theme will be the Association's objective to "Encourage development of transdisciplinary teaching, research and problem-solving that cut across many fields of scholarship (including natural, social and health sciences, and the humanities) and draws upon multiple types of knowledge."
