The Vision of a Sustainable Government Estate

Part of the ‘Securing the Future’ series of events, this, our second Annual National Conference on public sector performance in Sustainable Development on the Government Estate will examine current progress on the 2009/10 targets and highlight the priorities for 2010/11 and beyond.

In December 2009, the 8th ‘Annual Sustainable Operations on the Government Estate Assessment’ revealed that despite progress in a number of important areas – the Government taking its score to 81 per cent, up from 78 per cent last year, for the primary operational targets, and maintaining the 4 out of 5 rating – more must be done by the public sector in order to achieve the UK target of a 34 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions against 1990 levels by 2020, as set out in the ‘UK Low Carbon Transition Plan’.
