The SDU in conjunction with University College London Hospitals NHS FT are asking NHS organisations and their stakeholders to sign up to a 'Day of Action' on sustainability – on Wednesday the 28th March 2012.
The organisers would like health professionals across the UK to carry out a snap shot audit on energy use in hospitals and clinics. It's easy to carry out, but it needs health professionals in every Trust in the UK to take part.
To date over 25% of NHS trusts and organisations from all over the UK have confirmed participation (many have their logos displayed on the website) - and we hope to secure participation from 50- 75% of the NHS in this first year of the event.
Every audit submitted will help to create a better picture of how the NHS is using or wasting energy. Importantly it will also highlight opportunities for making savings, which could be translated into patient services.
Examples of other action you could take are:
- Holding a day of action on the 28th March 2012;
- Getting staff, patients and partners to work together to make a difference on sustainability;
- Raise awareness of sustainability across your organisation
Please pledge your support by emailing Sustainabilityday2012@uclh.nhs.uk and let us know what you are planning for the 28th March.
