Education about the links between climate change, sustainability, health and healthcare in medical training is rare. This project of collaborative curriculum development enlisted medical students, academics and practitioners to explore and articulate priority learning outcomes and develop educational materials for sustainability in healthcare to use in medical schools across the UK and abroad.

Kidney units are invited to share their local successes via this year's Green Nephrology Awards.  Shortlisted entries will be presented in poster format at the CleanMed Europe conference 17-19th September (in Oxford), and at the Green Nephrology Summit on 25th September (at Guy’s Hospital in London).  Awards for outstanding entries will be presented at the Summit.

Healthcare practitioners from Frithwood Surgery have created greenspace and designed a health walk from the GP surgery through the village demonstrating the practice’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of their staff, patients and the local community.

A new guide to sustainable commissioning has been published by Forum for the Future, CSH, and the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement. The guide and associated tools are aimed at Clinical Commissioning Groups that want to deliver system-wide commissioning which will, as a consequence, lead to healthcare services that operate in a more sustainable way.

The deadline for responses to the online consultation on sustainability in medical education has been extended to 10th April 2013. Responses have so far been received from medical students and trainee doctors as well as from individuals and organisations involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
