Nick Pollard
Qualified 1991, worked in psychiatry until 2003 when I joined Sheffield Hallam University. Co-editor of Occupational Therapy Without Borders (2005) and Occupational Therapies without Borders (vol 2) (2010), and A Political Practice of Occupational Therapy (2008). These three books showcase examples of international practice and argue for approaches to occupational therapy and occupation based practices which enhance communities, address inequality and are geared to social transformation. Though, to date, I've not specifically addressed green issues in my work, I see sustainability issues as a core element of the way in which occupation based practice can be used to address social change. I've joined this network to encounter like minded people.

I am currently working as a University Teacher at the University of Glasgow. I am involved with teaching biomedical science for the undergraduate medical curriculum. My background is in clinical medicine, I was a consultant in Emergency Medicine for a short time before leaving clinical medicine due to family pressures. I have a strong interest in environmental issues and am active in Transition and Permaculture networks and projects. I would like to use this knowledge and interest somehow in my current role, for example by leading an SSC on sustainable healthcare for medical students.
