CSH@COP26
The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare has been awarded Observer Status at the upcoming COP26 this November in Glasgow. This allows us to participate in holding negotiators accountable and increasing the transparency of the COP26 process. The Observer role is also crucial to ensure a wide range of stakeholders from across sectors have oversight of the progress of the negotiations. This will be particularly important for COP26, given it represents the most important test so far of country commitments to more ambitious emission targets that will keep global temperature rise to ‘well below 1.5C.”
Health is considered a science priority area within the negotiations and the COP26 Health Programme identifies developing low-carbon sustainable health systems as one of two key health priorities for the event. Given CSH’s world-leading work in developing low-carbon, sustainable models of healthcare, we are perfectly positioned to represent the sustainable healthcare community and bring your demands to this historic process.
We will shortly be releasing our consultation document which will allow you to contribute directly to the key messages we will bring to COP26 as observers. We will provide a health presence at multiple negotiating steps across the two-week period, with topics ranging from transport and energy to gender and youth and public empowerment. We want to hear from you so that we can ensure we are representing voices from across the health community. The consultation document will allow you to share facts, ideas, demands and messages related to the negotiating topics and we will work to make sure your voices are heard.
