CSH is looking for a Treasurer Trustee!
This is an opportunity to join the board of Trustees at The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) as our new Treasurer, contributing to good governance, development and smooth running of the charity. We are looking for someone who can contribute to good governance of CSH’s finances, as well as to strengthening and upholding CSH's vision, goals and values.
CSH’s board of trustees is the accountable body for sound financial and organisational management of the charity, working closely with the Chief Executive and staff – most of whom have worked for the charity over a long period and have established robust systems for monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure. CSH's board of trustees is a friendly, collaborative and effective group. The board is keen to signal that the role of CSH's Treasurer is not onerous, and that whilst we are bound to have a named Treasurer on the Council of Trustees and for that individual to be responsible in name for certain activities, this new role is for a fellow Trustee. The board shares financial discussions and responsibilities in a spirit of collaboration and mutually supportive decision-making and is ably supported by a dedicated member of staff with financial responsibility who is also the Company Secretary.
Job title: The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Treasurer Trustee (unpaid voluntary position)
Organisation: The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare registered charity (number 1143189)
- Attendance at four quarterly Trustee board meetings, usually a Thursday morning, 2 hours each, held at CSH’s office in the Summertown area of Oxford; our December meeting includes the opportunity to meet informally with staff.
- Occasional support for CSH’s Company Secretary with annual reporting or funder audits, and scrutiny and sign-off of CSH’s annual accounts.
- Occasional availability to sign papers and advise on finance-related decisions and report to Trustees.
- Attendance at CSH’s AGM (immediately following the December board of trustees meeting) to report to CSH’s members.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a well-organised, experienced person with expertise relevant to fulfilling the role of a Treasurer with CSH’s board of Trustees. Ideally, the successful candidate will also be willing to work flexibly and collaboratively. Ideally, they will have a personal interest in sustainable healthcare, a commitment to friendly and collaborative working, and a sympathy with the charity sector. This is an unpaid voluntary role, and we would hope for a commitment to serve as Treasurer for at least three years following co-option and then election, with the possibility of future renewal by mutual agreement and re-election. A shorter trial period can also be arranged if preferred.
Closing date: 10am, Monday 16th April 2018
Contact: Rachel Stancliffe, Chief Executive, firstname.lastname@example.org, who is happy to have an informal conversation with prospective applicants.
Equal opportunities: The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare is an equal opportunities organisation, and would positively welcome applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds, whether by age, gender, race, religion, economic background, physical ability, life experience, sexual orientation or other indication of the wonders of human diversity! If as a Trustee you can help us develop our positive approach to such considerations, all the better.
