Volunteer on a specialty programme
Collaborate with one of our project leads to maximize the impact of one of our programmes and produce practical changes within the healthcare system
Build a community network
Manage one of our sustainability networks, identifying and sharing cutting-edge research and events in sustainable healthcare
Take a student elective
Students and recent graduates are invited to learn about sustainability and healthcare as elective students. These experiences are full-time for a period of 4-8 weeks, which allows for intensive and focused work enhancing the impact of our sustainability programmes or the opportunity to engage on multiple programmes.
How it works
Induction
Once you are accepted you will be sent a package of preparatory instructions and activities. On the start date that you have chosen you will join an online induction to meet the Volunteer Coordinator and discuss your interests and possible projects. You will then be enrolled in our flagship course Introduction to Sustainable Healthcare and begin working on projects with CSH staff.
Weekly timetable
You will work singly or in pairs with a CSH staff member on a sustainable healthcare project. On Thursdays at 4.45 pm an online meeting is held to to share progress and findings with each other. New projects are assigned at that time; for full-time placements it is not uncommon to work on two or three different projects in a given week.
“During my elective, I worked on a ‘Greener Surgery in Maternity Theatres’ project and developed a course on ‘Nature and Healthcare.’ These experiences boosted my academic skills and allowed me to contribute to sustainability in healthcare—aligning perfectly with my career interests.”
