Green Space for Health
Our Green Space for Health team inspires and supports healthcare sites in transforming their green space for health, wellbeing and biodiversity. We believe that a nature- positive health service is vital for building healthier and more sustainable communities, and nature-based solutions are critical for tackling climate change. Our flagship NHS Forest project helps sites to plan, plant and manage trees, woodlands and green spaces to create habitats for wildlife and sustainable social spaces for people.
Sustainability in quality improvement (SusQI)
The Sustainability in quality improvement (SusQI) framework offers a holistic approach to improving healthcare, viewing all improvements and change processes through the sustainable value lens. To support organisations and healthcare staff to incorporate this approach, CSH offers strategic input and project support, short courses in Sustainability in Quality Improvement and open access SusQI resource.
Education
Our education team at CSH offers a wide range of professional training and educational courses to equip healthcare teams with the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to embed sustainable approaches in their practice; including making changes at an individual or team level, introducing sustainability to quality improvement processes, undertaking carbon footprint calculations, and take a leadership role on meeting Net Zero targets.
Sustainability analytics
Our sustainability analytics programme builds knowledge and capability amongst healthcare professionals and supports NHS organisations to understand, monitor and address their environmental impacts. It also contributes to expanding the evidence base on the environmental impact of clinical pathways and healthcare products. The team supports CSH’s Sustainability in Quality Improvement, Sustainable Specialties and Education programme as well as carrying out consultancy work for healthcare organisations and industry.
Sustainable specialties
The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare’s innovative Sustainable Specialities programme inspires leadership and produces practical changes within the healthcare system. Clinical specialties are uniquely placed to address the financial and environmental sustainability of services – from the design of the clinical pathway to the organisation and delivery of care. The CSH specialty-led approach combines research focused on hotspots or barriers with support for local change, underpinned by wider engagement with national leaders, patients, and relevant environmental organisations and clinical bodies.
