Makena completed her studies in Human Sciences at the University of Oxford in 2016 and went on to work in the charity sector for Generation Change, a nationwide network of youth social action organisations. She's been involved in running volunteering services, setting up Oxford's "Project Soup", a community micro-funding event and loves volunteering for the food co-op. Makena is also involved in running Xenia- a workshop bringing together migrant women to learn and speak English. She is interested in the links between agriculture and health and completed an in depth study into the effects of urban agriculture on nutrition during her time at Oxford.
