Carbon Reduction Plan Consultation

Since April 2024, for all new contracts, the NHS requires suppliers to publish a Carbon Reduction Plan for their UK Scope 1, and 2 emissions and a subset of their Scope 3 emissions in accordance with their NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap. From April 2027, this requirement will be extended, so that all suppliers will be required to publicly report emissions, targets, and publish a Carbon Reduction Plan for global emissions of Scope 1, 2 and 3.  Net zero is a core part of NHS England’s procurement exercise, and something that cannot be ignored by suppliers.

What is a Carbon Reduction Plan Consultation?

CSH’s expert team can support your organisation to develop a carbon reduction plan which sets out a mitigation strategy for your organisation’s carbon hotspots, aligns with NHS net zero commitments and complies with the NHS Net Zero Supplier requirements and the  Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment.

Our support can cover:

  • Assessment: All carbon reduction plans are required to include a recent carbon footprint analysis. Our team of experts will assess your organisational carbon footprint, which will include Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
  • Goal Setting: Based on the assessment, our experts will help set realistic and achievable carbon reduction goals.
  • Strategy Development: CSH will work closely with your team to develop tailored strategies to achieve the set goals. This might include implementing energy-efficient practices, switching to renewable energy sources, reducing waste, or adopting sustainable transportation methods.
