Carbon Reduction Plan Consultation

Any supplier who wants to work with the NHS in the future will be required to have a carbon reduction plan that aligns with NHS net zero commitments and complies with the NHS Net Zero Supplier requirements and the Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment. The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare can help you with that. Our team of experts can offer a bespoke consultation based on your unique needs, and give you the information and tools you need to comply with current legislation and requirments.

What is a Carbon Reduction Plan Consultation?

A carbon reduction plan consultation from CSH is a professional service that helps businesses and organisations that supply the NHS develop strategies to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to environmental sustainability. We can support you to develop a carbon reduction plan that aligns with NHS net zero commitments and complies with the NHS Net Zero Supplier requirements and the Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment.

During this consultation, CSH will work through the following steps with you:

  • Assessment: All carbon reduction plans are required to include a recent carbon footprint analysis. Our team of experts will assess the current carbon emissions of your organisation, which will include analyzing energy consumption, transportation, waste management, and other specific activities that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Goal Setting: Based on the assessment, our experts will help set realistic and achievable carbon reduction goals. These goals might involve reducing emissions by a certain percentage within a specific timeframe.
  • Strategy Development: CSH will work closely with your team to develop tailored strategies to achieve the set goals. This might include implementing energy-efficient practices, switching to renewable energy sources, reducing waste, or adopting sustainable transportation methods.
  • Implementation Support: Our expert team can provide ongoing support to help organisations implement their carbon reduction plans. This might involve providing technical assistance, training employees, or connecting them with relevant resources.

Why Is A Carbon Reduction Plan Consultation important?

From April 2024, for all new contracts, the NHS requires suppliers to publish a Carbon Reduction Plan for their UK Scope 1, and 2 emissions and a subset of their Scope 3 emissions in accordance with their NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap. From April 2027, this requirement will be extended, so that all suppliers will be required to publicly report emissions, targets, and publish a Carbon Reduction Plan for global emissions of Scope 1, 2 and 3.

Net zero is a core part of NHS England’s procurement exercise, and something that cannot be ignored by suppliers.
