About the KitNewCare Project

The Horizon Europe initiative is the EU’s key funding programme for innovation and research to tackle climate change and achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. CSH is part of a consortium of organisations across the UK and EU that has been funded by Horizon Europe to develop and disseminate a model for sustainable healthcare. The ‘KitNewCare’ project will focus on the medical specialty of kidney care, due to its large disease burden (e.g. 10% of Europeans have impaired kidney function severe enough to impact their health status) and its significant resource footprint, particularly in the use of dialysis in clinical settings. The pilot sites are in Poland, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.

About the role

This role will support the successful delivery of Work Package 6 (Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation) of the KitNewCare project, specifically the development and delivery of workforce training and local capacity building in sustainable kidney care. This will include monitoring and reporting on the relevant milestones and deliverables, using project-wide project management systems.
The post-holder will link with part-time local project coordinators in 4 pilot clinical sites (in Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland), to support the training of local implementation teams to implement and evaluate changes. The post-holder will also be required to support the delivery of training to healthcare professionals, using local translation services as required.
The role will involve coordinating with other Work Packages including the development of best practice guidance and benchmarking tools (WP5), metrics for evaluating the impact of changes (WP2) and organisational and workflow optimisations (WP3).

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee a review of existing workforce training resources for kidney care specialists in the UK and EU and engage with education stakeholders to develop a strategy for integrating sustainability into undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
• Work with local project coordinators in 4 pilot European kidney centres (Utrecht, Modena, Madrid, Warsaw), to:
  • Design, deliver and evaluate training packages, including direct delivery of training where appropriate.
  • Train local implementation teams, including clinicians, managers, patients and industry representatives.
• Provide management and support for events and conferences to disseminate project findings; co-author papers for publication; lead internal and external presentations of outcomes delivered by CSH.
• Support the establishment and cultivation of EU-wide professional networks focused on sustainable kidney care, including CSH’s Kidney Care Sustainability Network and resource library.
• Oversee the translation of training packages into other EU languages, working with local clinical specialists and educators.
• Participate in EU-wide consortium meetings and liaise and coordinate activities with the KitNewCare project manager and consortium members.
