As part of their journey towards a net zero health and care system, North East London Health and Care Partnership commenced a Green Team Competition in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare in May of this year. The competition has brought anticipated annual savings of £231,518 and 27,872 kgCO2e. This is the carbon footprint equivalent of driving 82,315 miles driven in an average car or 101 return trips between North-East London and Edinburgh.
Dublin Dental University Hospital and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare are offering an online programme of six modules in sustainable healthcare. The course will be delivered from January 2024, online, with both online course work and interactive sessions (delivered out of hours).
In May of this year, South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust commenced a Green Team Competition(link is external) in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. The competition has brought anticipated annual savings to the Trust of £116,194 and 7,032 kgCO2e. This is the carbon footprint equivalent of driving 20,768 miles in an average car(or 32 return trips between South Warwickshire and Glasgow).

This is an exciting new role and will be part of the NHS Forest and CSH Green Team. The Green Space for Health Project Lead will lead on our Trees Call to Action funded project, expanding the NHS Forest, coordinating bespoke ecological advice to NHS sites, and assessing the NHS green estate to ensure it is being used to its full potential.

The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare has been running Green Team Competitions since 2019. Last year, participating organisations saved an average of 56 Tonnes of CO2e and £59,000 per year, while empowering staff to implement positive changes through engagement in our Green Team mentoring programme. And it doesn't stop there! Green Team Competitions empower healthcare organisations to bring sustainability and healthcare together, improve clinical outcomes, and reduce organisational costs. They are a springboard to award nominations and national recognition for making the NHS greener.
This is an exciting senior role for an environmentally committed educator. You will lead our experienced Education Team, provide strategical oversight and management of several workforce training services and mass education initiatives, produce learning resources in a range of formats, and help expand the Programme’s work nationally and internationally.
